I was invited to my girlfriend’s birthday party at the beginning of September and I faced a challenge I always do when it comes to getting a present.
It happens to me all the time when it comes to birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, and holidays. There is a trend today to give a coupon from a clothing stores, a perfumery or any store possible actually or even an envelope with cash as a present. As a matter of fact, the young newlyweds are more into money then a real present. Can you imagine that?
No, please, don’t invite me at all if you want cash, because you wan’t get it from me!
I am old school in that matter, unquestionably. I want to think about that person and spend time to search for a present that is going to be unique and special and very valuable to that person. And of course, useful.
That’s why I asked myself a week before the birthday party:
What to buy to my girlfriend for her birthday that is unique, special and valuable to her? What is that something she will remember, at least for a while? And since I’m putting all my money into this blog and my online business, what to get her if I don’t have extra money for it?
Luckily, I had some time to figure it out and to decide what to do. And I got an idea! I would create, design, sew and pack a nice, fashionable, feminine lace top. Right for her!
I made it totally professional, like from the store:
I found a piece of very nice beige lace with glittery threads fabric that was exactly enough for a top for her.
Then I made a design copying one of my tops but adding a nice navy blue silky ribbon that I attached into the collar with opening on the back where is a bow supposed to be tied to hold it closed or untied to get the head through.
At the bottom of the opening at the back I’ve put the Golden Med Girl etiquette so it won’t tear apart but it also marks the brand of the garment.
I’ve put it in a white box that I had at home (from a perfume I bought years ago) and I even printed Golden Med Girl logo on the soft paper that I wrapped up the top into inside the box.
Before I closed it I rolled the box through the cloud of, currently my favourite fragrance, Chanel 5 L'Eau, and closed it firmly so it would have that seducing French odour when she opens it.
After her reaction, and the reaction of others, I think it was the perfect birthday present. Creative, definitely unique, fashionable and made with love.
I know it is not easy to create something or to find time for it, but if you care for the person you will find the creativity in you and time in your busy schedule.
At least use your creativity and time for buying a real present and not a coupon or an envelope with cash.
